Carmelo de Santa Teresa

Sé Nova, Coimbra

Presentation
The convent, which is near the Penedo da Saudade, was built for the Carmelite nuns in the 18th century.

Notes

After a gap of 40 years, the cloistered community returned to the convent in 1950, making it a prominent focus of religious tourism in the city. This was due to the fact that Sister Lúcia, the last of the three shepherds who a vision of the Virgin Mary, at Fátima, lived in the convent until her death, in 2005.
