History
It?s said that in 1863, the French engineer, La Chapelle, managed to heal a disease by bathing in the water of this land;
In 1897 the medical scholar Luís Navega, analysed these waters scientifically. These were classified as appropriate for the treatment of renal, metabolic, blood pressure and rheumatic diseases.
In 1902, Sociedade das Águas da Curia (Curia Spa and Thermal Waters Company) started exploring the thermal springs, through the royal charter signed by the King D. Carlos;
From the 20s onward, the cream of Portuguese society started meeting at the Curia Thermal Baths during the bathing season.
