Mosteiro de Celas

Santo António dos Olivais, Coimbra

Presentation
The Monastery was founded by Dona Sancha, daughter of the second Portuguese king, in 1213.

Notes

Between the 16th and the 18th centuries, Celas Monastery was restored, which changed its original layout. However, the Circular Church, the Choir, the Chapter House and the Cloister (considered one of the best in the gothic style in Portugal) underwent no changes. The capita l can be pointed out, as they represent the transition from the 18th to the 19th century.
