Discovering Bairrada through the vineyards

One day 'On the Bairrada Harvest Route'

The Bairrada Route programme, entitled "Discovering Bairrada through the Vineyards", invites visitors to "wear the shirt", experiencing the daily lives of the people of Bairrada, in this very special season. Always in the company of a Bairrada guide, and with transport included, this is an experience that gives the opportunity to discover vineyards, paths and viewpoints off the main road, to be able to feel the ground underfoot and discover paths and places full of history(s).

This program begins at 10:00 am, with the reception of participants at Espaço Bairrada da Curia, in what - with 79 years of history - is one of the most emblematic train stations in Portugal and which, as the headquarters of the Rota da Bairrada, is also the gateway par excellence to discover Bairrada. During the visit, one discovers the history of the Station that mixes with that of the Region, its wines, aromas and soils.

The program continues with a tour along roads and obligatory stopping points to take pictures and selfies, overlooking Bussaco, the vineyards or other places. Around 12:30 it's time to take a break for a picnic from Bairradio, with suckling pig sandwiches, sparkling wine, fresh fruit and regional sweets – the place is a surprise, as it changes depending on what is happening in the vineyards of the associated producers of the Route ( may be with a view to a harvest, or between bunches to be harvested). The program ends at the starting point, with a sparkling wine toast!
