Symbol of the art of preserving traditions
Casa Vidal restaurant was founded in 1964 by Vidal Dias Ferreira and his wife Maria do Carmo Silva. For many years, they were assiduous in the art of preparing the famous suckling pig "Leitão à Bairrada".
Nowadays its supervision is permanently led by the son José Vidal Ferreira in order to make this house a symbol of the art of preserving the gastronomic traditions of the region.

Mr. Vidal and his wife D. Maria do Carmo had, about 48 years ago, a small tavern where they served regional delicacies, besides chanfana and suckling pig. With the success of this tavern, they decided to specialize even with their own slaughterhouse, besides the wood ovens.
In 1996 they served 3 suckling pigs for a banquet for Queen Elizabeth II with an enormous success.
The seasoning and roasting time remain a house secret.
