It was built in 1855 and connected Vagos to Soza, replacing the ferry crossing owned by the Dukes of Lafões, which was leased to boatmen who used it to transport people and goods.?For over a century, it served as a link between the two banks, until 1978, when the new bridge to the south was built and the road layout changed. The new, refurbished bridge, narrower than it once was, is accessible on foot or by bicycle and has retained part of the ruins of the old bridge.
